Classic character and tradition arm-in-arm with five different crus add up to a perfect cohesion, in a Barolo with a truly timeless taste. This wine's limpid garnet hues are lusciously dark with sparkling ruby glimmers. A compact fruity bouquet with a delicately faded floral aura, it exudes ethereal harmonics above deeper balsamic chords. The effect on the palate is extremely intense, highlighting the characteristic complex harmony between robust tannins and restraining alcohol phase which combine to balance the rich body. Admirable persistence in a truly grand finale. Aged in Slavonian oak barrels for three and a half years and then in bottles for six months.

Alcohol: 13.5% vol.

Manufacturer History

Borgogno is the family name behind one of the oldest wine-making houses in Piedmont: ever since its foundation in1761, the incontestably superb quality of the company's products has justified its extraordinary reputation. One demonstration of this status is the choice of Barolo Borgogno for the grand official lunch celebrating the unification of Italy in 1861, and for the 1886 banquet in honour of Tsar Nicholas II Romanov, guest of Italy's reigning Savoy family. Today as then, its meticulously skilled traditional vinification process – now enhanced by modern equipment – endows Borgogno's wines with exceptional complexity and structure, making them an authentic expression of their territorial heritage.
