For Montanaro, distilling grappa is a family tradition: the founder Francesco Trussoni produced his Barolo grappa in 1885, the first single-variety in history.

This is why this grappa is the company's flagship product: obtained from Nebbiolo da Barolo grapes, grown according to the Vino Libero project and aged in oak barrels. While being finished, it becomes distinctively smooth and acquires an unmistakable aroma. Alcohol 43% vol.

It is a perfect way to end an evening, try it with its classical pairing with bitter chocolate.

Manufacturer History

The distilleria Montanaro is located in the centre of the Barolo territory and has remained basically unchanged since, in 1885, Francesco Trussoni, a distilling master, created the first Barolo grappa. Its original large and small oak barrels and elaborate copper alembic stills are still standing and working today. In 1922 the company was taken over by Mario Montanaro, a perfecter of distilling processes and an heir to Trussoni's rigorous methodology, which has always remained the foundation of the unique ecosystem where Montanaro spirits are distilled. Today the company is run by Giulio Bongiovanni who every day masterfully reproposes the values of the craft grappa Montanaro has always produced. Now as then, the result is a simply extraordinary spirit.
