The Montepulciano is considered the King of Abruzzo's wines, and this version by Emidio Pepe is an interpretation that has been developed, cared for and perfected since 1964.

The outcome of this patient process, fine-tuned year after year, is a well-structured and robust wine with intrinsic elegance, willing to age superbly. On the nose it opens with fruity tones which modulate into spicier allusions. The same aromas reflower in the mouth, along with a mellow tannin and excellent persistence. Alcohol 13% vol.

Try it with grilled meat or with lamb or kid dishes, or indeed with Vincisgrassi, a rich lasagna-type dish from the southern part of The Marches and from Abruzzo.

Manufacturer History

The company was founded in the late nineteenth century, when Emidio Pepe – grandfather of today's Emidio, who continues the family tradition – began producing wine on the hillsides near Torano in Abruzzo. Generation after generation, the reputation of these wines spread, noted for their authentic connection with their territory and also for their use of organic cultivation techniques long before such certification even existed.
