The Sagrantino grapes from which this wine derives are the expression of a very special vine, famed the world over for its aging potential. A wine with a vivid ruby red body glimmering with glimpses of garnet, which offers bold and intriguing olfactory suggestions. These stand out for the strong wafts of blackberry, myrtle, cherry, leather and carob, with additional streaks of liquorice that further enhance its aromatic originality. On the palate it communicates potency, creaminess and elegant tannins, preparing a memorable and lengthy finale.

Alcohol: 14.5% vol.

Manufacturer History

The story of the Tenuta Castelbuono estate began in 2001, but its roots stretch back to the last century and the winemaking activities of the Ferrari family, which produces the most famous sparkling wines from Trentino. In time Ferrari's strategy has brought it to amplify its range and diversify its products, and purchase land in Umbria, choices all culminating in the Castelbuono winery. Apart from the excellence of its wines, one of Castelbuono's outstanding features is its amazing building designed by the renowned sculptor Arnaldo Pomodoro, a hill-like casket for the creation and celebration of wine.
