The “crunchy wheat chips” are an original product from Sardinia. They are actually a modern version of the antique Guttiau bread, which is a flavourful variant of carasau, the famous crispy bread: These are layers of "carasau bread" "gocciolate" (trickled) with extra virgin olive oil, dusted with a pinch of salt and placed on the grate in front of the fireplace or over a wood stove for a few seconds. The result is extremely crispy and flavourful thin layers of bread that contain the flavour of the tree oils used to light the fire. The Taralluccios “crunchy wheat chips” find their origins in the ancient guttiau bread, enhanced with modern flavours such as ground black pepper and paprika, to make these ancient flavours even more enticing. No artificial flavours or colours!
